Less than six months after it debuted on the iPhone 14 Pro, Apple’s Dynamic Island has made it an Android phone as a native feature. The Realme C55, that just launched in Indonesia (through GSMArena)includes a feature the company calls the “Mini Capsule,” a pill-shaped black bar that protrudes from the phone’s selfie camera.

An animation on the Realme website shows the Mini Capsule protruding from the left and right sides of the phone’s selfie camera cutout. Options include displaying the phone’s charging status, data usage, and your step count.

Despite how blatant all this is, I’m broadly in favor of it Good new telephone functions are applied as widely as possible. I love Dynamic Island on my iPhone 14 Pro, whether it’s keeping my cooking timer visible while I check out an online recipe, or giving me an easier way to control music without leaving the app I’m working on. am browsing. And when the UI is (eventually) available for both iPhones and more Android devices, I’m cautiously hopeful that more app developers will make an effort to support it.

Apart from the Mini Capsule, the Realme C55 is a typical Android phone that is also affordable. It is powered by a Helio G88 processor, comes with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and a 6.72-inch 1080p 90Hz display. It has a 5,000mAh battery and fast charging at up to 33W. It uses the SuperVOOC charging standard, which you might know as Oppo technology (Realme falls under the same BBK Electronics umbrella).

While an official launch date in the West has not yet been confirmed, Realme Europe CEO Francis Wong says it will launch in Europe “soon.” In the meantime, if you’d like to try out a Dynamic Island-style interface on your current Android phone, check out the DynamicSpot app.
