Hello and welcome back to Equitythe podcast about the business of startups, where we unravel the numbers and nuances behind the headlines.

Our Monday show covers the weekend’s latest tech news and early week headlines. Today we talk about crypto, Uber and how to be petty at scale. This is what we started:

  • Across the world of capital, we are most confused about certain bits of price stability in the cryptocurrency markets. It feels a little fake, if that makes sense.
  • Where prices are less stable is the world of YC startups, where there are again complaints among venture investors about the valuations that control some of the earliest tech companies out there. Given the state of the world, perhaps a larger discount was expected.
  • Uber sells part of Careem in $400 million deal. Uber wants to do things on wheels. It’s not a super app company, at least in the Middle East. But it is about to have a huge new bankroll.
  • The battle between Musk and Substack took a lot of oxygen over the weekend, showing that it’s often hard to hold onto someone’s free speech when you just don’t want to anymore.

All that and there are new FTX documents! Hurray! Let’s have a good week, everyone.
