The death of missing Princeton University student Misrach Ewunetie is being ruled a suicide

It has been determined that a Princeton University student who disappeared in October committed suicide.

According to a news report from the Mercer County Attorney’s Office, the Middlesex Regional Medical Examiner’s Office postmortem report on Misrach Ewunetie found out the 20-year-old died of “Bupropion, Escitalopram and Hydroxyzine Toxicity,”

On October 14, Ewunetie was last seen near her apartment complex, Scully Hall. Her brother, Universe Ewunetie, told ABC News that while one of her roommates had seen her home around 3 a.m., another roommate hadn’t discovered her there when she returned around 4:30 a.m.

According to ABC news, Ewunetie’s family became concerned after she missed an interview for her application for citizenship in the United States.

Law authorities flooded the school to find Ewunetie after she disappeared and made headlines across the country. According to WHYthe hunt for Ewunetie was supported by a number of law enforcement agencies, including the Princeton University Department of Public Safety, the Princeton Police Department, and the New Jersey State Police.

On October 20, Ewunetie’s body was discovered on the school grounds behind the tennis courts.

In a letter to the campus community, Princeton Vice President for Campus Life Rochelle Calhoun said authorities determined that there were “No obvious signs of injury and her death does not appear suspicious or criminal in nature.”

After completing her high school education at Villa Angela-St, Joseph High School in Cleveland, Ohio, where her family lives, Ewunetie received a full four-year scholarship to Princeton University. The best student would graduate in 2024. The high school reported that Ewunetie placed first out of 107 students in her class.

“Misrach’s death is an unthinkable tragedy. Our hearts go out to her family, her friends and the many others who knew and loved her.” Calhoun said.
