Early life and family
Beth McLeod was born Elizabeth Heather Henningsen on March 31, 1965 in Bay Village, Ohio, USA, to parents Richard Henningsen and Martha Ann Henningsen. Her family lived in her hometown until Beth in 1 . used to best grade, then moved to Detroit because her father was working for Detroit Diesel at the time, and she spent most of her childhood there.
Education
She graduated from Northville High School in Northville, Michigan, and graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. She later completed a master’s degree in Meteorology from Mississippi State University.
Career
Her first television job was with CBS Sports in New York, but she then spent more than 17 years with WDIV in Detroit, Michigan. Aside from covering traffic news for the station from 1995 to 2008, she was one of the hosts of Michigan Lotteryhanding out the lucky winning numbers on the daily draw broadcast for 15 years along with Aggie Usedly and Darryl Wood, until they were replaced in 2012 by an automated speaking machine.
Beth left the traffic department so she could have more time with her husband, who was the Cleveland Cavaliers game announcer. She began a career as a weather forecaster at WOIO in Cleveland, where she worked as a meteorologist for nearly 10 years, providing updates on the weather and explaining possible changes to the climate every day.

Private life

In September 2019, her husband called her and said he was not feeling well and that he would drive himself from the golf course to the emergency room at the nearest hospital. She told him to stop and just wait for the 911 team she called to help him. That was the last time they could talk, as he died of a heart attack at age 67.

Fred was born on September 1, 1952 in Strongsville, Cleveland, Ohio to parents Fred McLeod Sr. and Marilyn McLeod. He spent most of his childhood in his hometown until his sophomore year, when his family moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He attended a local high school there and graduated in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Point Park University, formerly known as Point Park College.
He was a member of the college baseball varsity team in the position of pitcher when his team reached the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) World Series, the national association for small colleges in North America.
In 1974, he began his career covering sporting events in St. Joseph, Missouri for KQTV, before moving to Steubenville, Ohio for WSTV. In 1979, he returned to Cleveland for WJKW-TV to be a sports host and play-by-play announcer for the city’s baseball team, the Cleveland Indians. Impressed by his comments, Fred was offered a job in San Francisco, California, where he did the same for KPIX-TV about the Oakland Athletics.
In the 1980s, WJBK managed to lure him back to the East by offering him a job in Detroit, Michigan as a sports presenter, and later switched to WDIV. In 1984, the NBA team the Detroit Pistons hired him to call their games, giving the games play-by-play account for years, until in 2006 he got a call from Dan Gilbert, the majority owner of the Cleveland. cavalry. Evidently, Dan was his former intern at WDIV, who bought back his mortgage business after graduating and eventually bought the NBA team.
