Here are five things in technology that happened in the past week and how they affect your business. Did you miss them?
1 – How ChatGPT in Microsoft Office can change the workplace.
According to recent reports, Microsoft is planning to add the chatbot technology Open AI – known as ChatGPT – to PowerPoint, Outlook, Word and the entire productivity suite. While the integration is expected to contribute to productivity when performing tasks such as emails, reports, and presentations, many experts point to issues such as ChatGPT’s lack of accuracy, privacy concerns, and more. Why this is important for your business:
Microsoft has made a significant financial investment in OpenAI and clearly thinks the technology behind ChatGPT is the future. If you haven’t tried it out yet, you should. ChatGPT is open-source and free to the public. I’ll be researching and writing about some of the potential Office 365 integrations we’ll enjoy in the coming weeks in this space.
2 – Cloudflare unveils a suite to maximize remote collaboration and productivity.
Web security company Cloud Flame recently announced plans to launch its new Digital Experience Monitoring suite. The new suite will consist of an all-in-one dashboard that will provide leaders in the IT space with real-time, historical, and predictive information about performance, network issues, and app failures, helping employees maintain productivity. Why this is important for your business:
Designed for IT departments and businesses monitoring their customers’ activities, this is another powerful tool for ensuring networks are operating securely and at optimal levels. I’m including this news not only because Cloudflare is a respected tool, but also so that you can be aware that there are other good tools like this that can provide these features, and that every business should be using them.
3 – Shoppers expect seamless BNPL both online and in-store.
A recent survey found that more than three-quarters of those who shop both online and in-person have higher expectations when it comes to Buy Now Pay Later – commonly known as BNPL – and checkout in general. The data also showed that a quarter of consumers combine e-commerce with in-store shopping, and are more likely to shop at retailers that offer the option of BNPL, both in their brick-and-mortar stores and online. Consumers also expect a seamless checkout experience. (Source: Pymnes)
Why this is important for your business:
Speed and convenience are top priorities for any client, so if you have a consumer-facing business and offer BNPL, you need to make sure the transaction is quick and easy.
4 – Jobber says integrated financing increases cash flow confidence for home service businesses.
worker – the home services management platform and app – rolls out new digital features to build trust and build cash flow for service providers. (Source: Pythons)
Why this is important for your business:
Some of the new capabilities include digital billing, setting up recurring payments, offering consumer finance to service providers, and improvements to the platform’s scheduling side. If your business offers home services, Jobber is a great app to consider as it combines many of the features you need under one roof.
5 – This is how AI is revolutionizing recruitment.
I enjoyed this piece from the HR News editors because it summarized all the ways artificial intelligence will change how we find (and retain) employees in the not-so-distant job. (Source: HR news)
Why this is important for your business:
In the article, the authors explain why AI technology makes the recruitment process more efficient and cost-effective while delivering higher quality results. Some of their points include how much hiring platforms use AI and automation in every step of the hiring process, from onboarding to resume evaluation. They also highlight how AI also makes it possible to automate time-consuming tasks, minimize errors, shorten the overall time to recruit a candidate, and improve communication between companies and candidates.
