planetarium labs’ Nine Chronicles launches a new cat-themed NFT series. It’s called D:CC, which stands for De:Centralized Cat, and will officially launch on August 24.
The Web3 idle MMORPG is pretty standard, at least on the surface. It is a world with a Norse mythology and players can fight and craft to gain experience. The player characters are also cat-based kemonomimi, which makes sense given the name of the game and the new NFT launch.
Frankly, it kind of reminds me of the days when I spent way too much time playing AdventureQuest in early 2010.
Where it’s different, though, is the technology the game is built on. It is completely open source and actually has no servers. Everything the game needs to run is on the player’s computer. All the data needed to maintain the MMO aspect is simply in the network. If a player decides to quit, that won’t change for anyone else.
The data is as persistent as possible.
Nine Chronicles players can now apply for a spot in two pioneer programs. The first program is already running and offers 999 advance spots to existing Nine Chronicles players. The second program will go live to the general public on 24 August. Whoever wins a spot gets the same coin authority for a single PFP NFT from the D:CC collection.
“Following the detail and care we put into every aspect of Nine Chronicles, I wanted the NFT collection to reflect the vibrant and dynamic world,” Nine Chronicles’ Sangmi Seon said in a statement to GamesBeat. “Every PBB is unique and beautiful.”
That’s a lot of acronyms
PFP stands for ‘profile picture’. It’s kind of NFT on social media – think Bored Ape profile pictures. However, the new D:CC version offers a whole host of in-game benefits. Holders of the D:CC PFP NFTs will receive exclusive in-game rewards, costumes, items and currency. D:CC members also get a voice in future collaborations.
Nine Chronicles has planned additional future NFT art collaborations with other crypto-based games like The sandpit, sipher and Delysium.
