Amazon’s Jeff Blackburn, who heads the company’s media and entertainment operations, is retiring from Amazon for the second time, according to emails from Blackburn and CEO Andy Jassy on Friday.
With Blackburn’s departure, there will be some shifts in Amazon’s org chart. Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video, Amazon Studios and MGM, reports directly to Jassy. Steve Boom adds Audible, Twitch and Amazon’s games division to his current responsibilities of overseeing the company’s music and podcast groups. He also reports directly to Jassy.
Blackburn, who originally joined Amazon in 1997, will officially retire again in January. He will remain with the company in some capacity until early 2023 “to ensure a smooth transition,” Jassy wrote.
