Following the reveal of Witcher 3’s next-gen launch, CD Projekt Red is ending support for two of its Witcher-related spin-off titles. Support for Gwent, based on the in-universe card game, and The Witcher: Monster Slayer, a mobile title, will end in early 2023. Support will end completely by the end of the year.

Gwent is a popular card game in the world of The Witcher, which gamers were able to participate in in The Witcher 3. CDPR eventually turned the game into a standalone title. According to CDPR Roadmap Video 2023, Gwent receives batches of 24 cards in April, July and September. Shortly thereafter, CDPR ends active support for the game, although it is still playable.

Monster Slayer was more of a Pokemon GO style mobile title, where the player took on the role of a Witcher who hunts monsters. It was developed by Spokko, a studio affiliated with CD Projekt. Since it was a game where you had to go outside for a long time (to find those monsters), the release was badly timed during the pandemic. Spock announced it will shut down the game on June 30, 2023. As of February 1, the game will no longer be available for download and the developers will begin the termination process.

CDPR also invests heavily in its Witcher universe titles. It announced three games earlier this year, including a remake of the first Witcher game. said Spoko a frequently asked question that it would transition into CDPR, with some of its staff moving to the latter’s core projects. Some of the staff will be laid off, although it has not specified how many.
