A list of robotics companies that are hiring

The economy is a little better – a little, maybe, a little? Although it seems to be moving in the right direction, it will be a long road. Besides, if you can’t find work, positive macroeconomic trends are cold comfort. One of the nice things about having a platform like businesskinda.com is the ability to help people in that difficult position.

I work in publishing and am well aware of the pain of being fired – I’ve been through the process twice. A million strangers on LinkedIn can tell you how amazing you are and that none of this is your fault. You can also know that these things are implicitly true and still struggle with self-esteem questions.

Here in the US, your occupation is invariably the second thing people ask about after being given your name. We invest so much of our identity in what we do. It’s not necessarily healthy, but it’s what we spend most of our time doing. It is also the foundation of many of our closest relationships. It can be easy to lose sight of the human toll of mass layoffs when we count tens of thousands among tech giants.

Now good news: companies are hiring. Robotics as an industry is somewhat uniquely positioned here given the growth it saw during the pandemic. It is true that some major companies (Alphabet, Amazon) have slowed investments in robotics. It is also true that we will see more companies being acquired or wound down.

But a lot of money was poured into automation, creating runways that will help many make it out the other side in one piece. Much of this bad news will only strengthen the industry. Certainly, labor issues aren’t going away any time soon, as is the drive to increasingly automate fields such as fulfillment, construction, healthcare, and agriculture.

Simply put, it’s a bad time to look for jobs, but a good time to look for robotics jobs. In my weekly robotics newsletter, Actuator, I listed a handful of companies that are hiring. However, this morning I put out a call in hopes of getting enough together for a standalone post. I didn’t have to wait long.

Of course, businesskinda.com is not a job site. This is not a list of all roles available in robotics. But if you’ve recently been laid off, just graduated from college, or just looking for a change, hopefully this is a good place to start. If people like it, we’ll do it again. And hey, if you find a job through this post, let me know on Twitter. Everyone likes a happy ending.
