Hailey Brooks, who was 11 years old, died Saturday during Raleigh’s Christmas Parade. This is sad on two fronts. It is first and foremost a tragedy for Hailey Brooks and her family.
A senseless act of violence took this young girl’s life and her family will never be the same again. Second, it’s a tragedy for Raleigh as a whole.
This event has shaken the city to its foundations and shows that public events need better security measures. We need to work together as a community to help Hailey’s family and make sure something like this never happens again.
It is a sad loss to her family, friends and the community at large. Second, it shows how dangerous it is for parade goers to be hit by cars. While the accident is still under investigation, it appears the driver of the pickup lost control and drove into Hailey Brooks’ dance troupe.
Take a look at:
Accidents like this show that parade participants need better safety measures, such as barriers between them and the parade route. No child should die in a parade, and no family should have to deal with such a terrible loss.
Hopefully, Hailey Brooks’ death will not be in vain and lead to more security measures that will prevent other tragedies.
Christopher Glass, the 20-year-old driver of the truck that hit and killed 11-year-old Hailey Brooke on Saturday, has been arrested and charged with death by motor vehicle, improper equipment, unsafe movement, carelessness and recklessness, and carrying a firearm in a parade.
As the people of Raleigh mourn Brooks’ death, memorials have sprung up along Hillsborough Street near Boylan Avenue where the crash occurred. A memorial reads, “Hailey, dancing in the arms of Jesus!”
We are deeply saddened by the tragic passing of 11-year-old Hailey Brooks during the Raleigh Christmas Parade.

A memorial to Hailey will be a sad part of Raleigh’s Christmas parade this year. A girl dancing with CC & Company Dance Complex was injured when an out of control pickup truck pulling a float crashed into her.
The group had performed in the parade before and were due to do so again last year, but the float accident prevented them from doing so.
Hailey was taken to hospital, but her injuries were too bad and she died there. A memorial service will be held for her this year outside the closed CC & Company Dance Complex.
Several charges have been filed against the driver
WRAL Investigation revealed that Christopher Glass was driving the GMC Denali that would go off the road on Saturday. This was found during the October 30 ticket.
Other things wrong were the wrong exhaust systems and no clearance lights. The online records aren’t clear what kind of car Glass was fined for.
After Saturday’s accident, Raleigh police detained Glass and charged him with driving under the influence, being careless and reckless, using the wrong equipment, moving around in an unsafe manner and carrying a gun while driving. a procession.
Court records show that Glass lives with his parents in Goode, Virginia. WRAL News went there on Monday. From the bottom of the “no trespassing” signs on the property, WRAL News attempted to contact Glass and his family.
“Even in her last hours, Hailey showed her loving and giving spirit to the younger children who were with her in the parade,” the Brooks family said. Hailey Brooks, 11, was killed during the Christmas parade in Raleigh. https://t.co/c5bMxE1lId

Christopher Glass’s first trial is over January 26, 2023. The warrant says Christopher told police he “works on car safety systems.”
According to the search request, Glass’s driving record has “no inspection, tint violations, improper equipment and speeding violations” as of 2021.
Christopher Glass was featured in 2018 Instagram posts of him dancing in competitions for CC & Company Dance Complex. As of 2022, it is not clear what role he plays in the company… Just follow us on Lee Daily for more news like this.
