Katy along with her siblings was raised in the US by their father, who was a high school soccer coach, and a mother who was a homemaker.

Katy became interested in sports at an early age and started playing football in elementary school. After enrolling in high school, she took up running and volleyball. She was also interested in several other things as she acted with the school’s drama club and also tried to sing and dance. After her matriculation, Katy enrolled at Elmhurst College, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2003 (this would be her year of birth 1981) – she continued her education at Troy University, where she graduated with a Master’s degree in Educational technology.
