Born on October 28, 1977 in Camborne, Cornwall, England, Zoie Palmer is an actress, best known for her work on the television series “Dark Matter” in which she portrayed the android. She was also one of the stars of the Showcase series “Lost Girl”, playing the role of Dr. Lauren Lewis starred.

Beginning of early life, education and career
Zoie is of Irish and British descent; she grew up in England, but her family later moved to and settled in Canada where she began her education. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Ontario and developed her interest in acting there. She had her first professional venture in a summer stock theater in a nearby area.
After graduating from high school, she enrolled at Toronto’s York University where she studied for a degree in Fine Arts, which is known for its coursework in acting as with similar programs in many universities around the world.
The university is one of Canada’s most internationally recognized and is also home to the country’s oldest film school. She started her career by appearing in several television movies, including ‘The Reagans’ and ‘Out of the Ashes’. She also made a few guest appearances in television shows and then made her feature film debut in “Godsend” after working on a few short films.
Rise to fame
In 2006, Palmer had her first recurring role when she was cast in “Instant star”, who appears as the character, Patsy Sewer.
The Canadian show follows the life of music contest winner Jude Harrison as he adjusts to life as a professional music artist. The show was nominated for several awards during its four-year run, although she was only with the show for one year.
A year later, she became a regular cast member on the show “The Guard”, which follows the lives of four characters who work as coastguards, their professional struggles, personal lives, with themes of family, addiction and coping with post-traumatic stress. disorder (PTSD).
The show lasted for two seasons before being put on hiatus as it failed to attract the expected numbers, eventually leading to its cancellation. She then returned to movies, the horror movie “Devil” and then she was cast in “Cold Blooded” where she teamed up with Ryan Robbins and Sergio DI Zio. The film tells the story of a woman who guards a thief who is hospitalized, only to encounter the thief’s partners who will stop at nothing to reach their partner.
Lost Girl – Early 2010s
In 2010, Zoie had one of her most notable roles when she was cast in the supernatural series “Lost girl”, which follows the life of a bisexual succubus who must learn about her powers and use them to help others, and the truth behind her identity.

Her character is said to be the main love interest of the succubus played by Anna Silk. Their on-screen romance received a lot of attention and was even named as one of the best television couples by several publications. The show received positive reviews during its run.
Zoie also had several other projects, including the movie “Sex After Kids,” which tells the story of several adults who struggle to return to their normal sex lives while coping with the responsibilities of parenthood. After the end of “Lost Girl,” Palmer quickly moved on to another project, cast as one of the main characters in “Dark Matter”, portraying the Android. The show is based on the comic book series of the same name and ran for three seasons. It tells the story of people who wake up in a ship with no memories of their past. The show progresses with the characters learning more about their identities as they try to survive deep space. The show was canceled after the third season due to not having enough support to continue.
After the show, she returned to guest work on television shows. Some of her recent appearances include “Wynonna Earp”, “Pure” and “Taken”. In 2019, she played the role of Max in the sitcom “Jann” alongside Patrick Gilmore and Jason Blicker. She has a few projects yet to be released, including the movie “Spiral‘, which has completed production, and is the ninth installment of the horror franchise ‘Saw’ starring Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson. Rock was responsible for making this new film as he felt that exploring horror movies would be a step in a different direction for his career.
Private life
Many people suspected that Zoie was a lesbian or bisexual because of her comfort in portraying the main character’s love interest in “Lost Girl”, and her chemistry with Anna Silk. A year before the end of the show, she came out publicly as a lesbian, and announced it at the 2nd Canadian Screen Awards. She also revealed that she was in a relationship with film producer Alex Lalonde. Her partner was previously married and had a son from that marriage who ended in divorce. She also has a few connections in politics, most notably her sister who is a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario.
