The Steam Deck arrives December 17 in Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan

Valve’s Steam Deck handheld will ship to Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan on December 17. Pre-orders for the PC-meets-portable console opened through Komodo in August, and customers who pre-ordered will receive requests to complete orders starting December 1.

The first Steam Deck units in Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Taiwan will ship on December 17, and Valve says delivery times are expected to “range from a few days to a few weeks.”

In Japan, the Steam Deck costs 59,800 yen (about $431), rising to 99,800 yen (about $720) for the top-end 512GB model. Here are the full starting prices in these new regions:

Japan could be a huge market for the Steam Deck. As my colleague Cameron Faulkner points out, huge segments of the population have been commuting in and out of major cities by train every day, and handhelds have become particularly popular in Japan as a result.
