Nintendo and Illumination have finally honored us with the trailer for the Super Mario Bros Movie. It’s not a very long trailer, and Mario himself says less than 10 words, so I’m not sure it’s enough to pass judgment on actor Chris Pratt’s performance as Mario. However, Jack Black as Bowser and Keegan Michael Key as Toad both sound decent. And the animation looks great – that counts for something. I think our collective expectations were so low that even a decent movie with a vaguely Chris Pratt-sounding lead will suffice.

In other news, we finally got a look at Need For Speed Unbound, which will launch three years after the last title. Fans have been begging EA to finally unveil this game for so long, I think they may have surpassed Dragon Age fans in that regard. At the very least, fans won’t have long to wait, as the game is slated for a December launch (assuming it’s not delayed, but wood knocks).

CD Projekt Red seems to be encouraged by the renewed interest in Cyberpunk 2077, as it has announced five new games, three of which would be developed by the company’s in-house development teams. If they’d announced that at this time last year, they would have been mocked to a figuratively fine powder — and admittedly, I would have been leading the way on that. For now I’m just hoping the company does not let its employees get confused to complete all these projects. We all saw how that went when 2077 was launched, and we don’t want a repeat.

As for me, I will spend my weekend not Play overwatch 2. Aside from the queuing issues, I think I’m kind of done with this franchise. It’s a shame because it once meant so much to me, but I just don’t feel like it anymore, and I’m not exactly sure why. Maybe when the crowds have calmed down a bit, I’ll give it a spin out of obligation. In the meantime, I’m still happily exploring Slime Rancher 2 and finishing Return to Monkey Island.
