California-based Alteryx, which provides an end-to-end platform for analytics automation, is taking another step toward simplifying data analytics for enterprises. The company announced today that it has provided early access to a new experience, called Designer, in the Alteryx Analytics Cloud. It’s a move that will give analysts and other data consumers a browser-based interface with no code to work with.
With the new feature, Analytics Cloud is drag-and-drop accessible to users through any web browser, with no code required. This enables data consumers to build easy-to-use workflows to prepare, assemble, and analyze data. It will improve accessibility so that companies can generate insights needed to achieve better results.
“That means once you’re signed up, you can connect your data and start building workflows in minutes, without having to deploy or manage any software. Use any device, from Macs to Chromebooks, to build workflows anywhere today. Plus, we’ve made it even easier to prepare and combine insightful analytics on your data and start identifying your data in our redesigned Designer experience,” the company notes on its website.
The solution speeds up the time to insights. Genomics England, which analyzes sequenced genomes for the NHS and then equips researchers to use data to help find the cause of disease, even claims that using the Designer interface helped them reduce delivery times by 50%.

“We needed a platform that could support us in carrying out this vital work without interrupting our day-to-day operations,” Thomas Oscroft, head of data operations at Genomics England, said in a press release. “The Alteryx Analytics Cloud platform ticked all the boxes because it was low-code, cloud-based, secure, robust and scalable. By using Designer Cloud, we were able to reduce our delivery times by 50%, even as the company scaled. It helps us get real-time information faster, make better decisions and democratize analytics.”
Streamlined data analysis
As Alteryx claims, the Designer experience is not only fast and web-based, but also optimized for cloud data platforms. This means that users of the new interface get automated and visual processing in the database for platforms like Snowflake, enabling analysts to perform data analysis directly where the information resides to unlock insights quickly and at a potentially lower cost.
“Snowflake’s partnership with Alteryx makes it easier and more accessible for our joint customers to turn big data into actionable insights,” said Tarik Dwiek, head of technology alliances at Snowflake. “With its intuitive analytics and database processing on Snowflake’s single, integrated platform, the Alteryx Analytics Cloud delivers advanced analytics and data science innovation in the cloud, helping our customers stay ahead of market demand by making strategic business decisions faster.”
The Designer experience also includes built-in scheduling capabilities, which allow users to automate data analysis workflows with minimal effort.
No word on wider availability
Currently the Designer experience available to select Alteryx customers. The company hasn’t confirmed when it plans to roll out the interface more widely, but it will use early adopter feedback to further refine the offering.
In addition, the company will add more tools, features and data connectors every week during the program.
