Based in Ho Chi Minh City for the past three years Medigo has grown to 500,000 active users by offering 24/7 on-demand prescription delivery services. Now it plans to grow its telehealth ecosystem with $2 million in new funding from East Ventures, with the participation of Pavilion Capital and Touchstone Partners.

The new capital will enable Medigo to expand its remote doctor consultations, drug delivery and home testing services, including blood testing, urine testing and pregnancy testing.

Medigo’s app connects users to nearby pharmacies and delivers medicines within 20 minutes. It currently has 1,000 pharmacy partners in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s three largest cities, and will begin expanding into Tier 2 cities such as Binh Duong, Vung Tau and Hai Phong this year.

The startup’s CEO and co-founder Ha Le started working on the app after struggling to find fever reducers for his daughter in the middle of the night. “When I was in college as a software engineer, I never thought that working in healthcare would be the center of my daily life, but now it’s my life’s mission,” he told businesskinda.com.

Medigo has numerous competitors, including Doctor Anywhere, Jio Health, Edoctor, Long Chau, Pharmacity, and Rightnow. Le said Medigo sets itself apart by partnering with pharmacies that are open around the clock so it can operate consistently 24/7. It also plans to connect different providers so that users can have more choices on the same platform.

In a statement on the investment, Koh Wai Kit, managing partner of East Ventures, said: “Digital technologies can improve the accessibility and affordability of quality healthcare. We are excited about Medigo’s mission to revolutionize pharmacies and healthcare in Vietnam.”
