Who is Luna Contreras from “Snack vs. Chef”?

In Netflix’s new culinary competition series Snack vs. Chef, 12 inventive chefs compete for a $50,000 cash prize. Luna Contreras was one of the competitors in the reality TV show. On her Instagram feed, the brilliant chef describes herself as a “brown trans girl” from Portland, Oregon. She is a proud transgender woman who has been outspoken about her support for the LGBTQ+ community on social media.

Luna announced her participation in Snack vs. Chef in an Instagram post and wrote:

“As a trans woman, my grandmother would have been overjoyed.” I’m glad I put myself out there to raise awareness for trans youth and represent Portland! ”

She claimed the cooking show was filmed in Stamford, Connecticut during the epidemic.

All about Luna Contreras’ work experience as a chef

According to her LinkedIn profile, Luna Contreras has spent most of her career working at various restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. Luna worked as a sous chef at Fonda in the San Francisco Bay Area after a year-long internship at Chez Panisse in Berkeley, California.

She joined Mexico DF as a co-executive chef after a three-year tenure at Fonda. Luna became a chef at restaurant Mamacita in 2009 and she quickly rose to prominence in the culinary world. Luna’s ability was also highly appreciated at Padrecito, a restaurant where she worked after Mamacita. Luna started at Nightingale in Portland in 2020, but quit after eight months. She then chose to become a chef at Chelo, a well-known restaurant in Portland. Luna also serves on the board of directors of Family Meal, a non-profit organization.

According to her Instagram, she likes to express her opinion in long posts. In one of her most recent posts, she expressed her gratitude to Snack vs. Chef for offering a platform “a great experience”. She went on to say that the program helped her make new friends and gave her the courage to try new things. While Luna has touched many hearts with her compassion and culinary skills in Portland, she is now preparing to do so again by participating in the Netflix cooking show, Snack vs. Chief.

Season 1 Snack vs. Chief Competitors

In addition to Luna, Hari Cameron, Christian Gill, Kristopher Edelen, Danny Kievit, Sandy Dee Hall, Clara Park, Lauryn Bodden, Ali Manning, Lauren Jude, Scottish Francis and Kevin Gregory will compete in the new Netflix program Snack vs. Chief .
