Tiffany Haddish has spoken out about assault and grooming allegations leveled against her in California Superior Court for Los Angeles County. Jane Doe, 22, has sued herself and comedian Aries Spears. According to the indictment, which Doe filed on behalf of herself and her 15-year-old brother, John Doe, John Doe, Haddish and Spears forced them to record sexually provocative sequences while underage in various humorous skits.
According to the lawsuit, the plaintiffs were “groomed” when they were seven and fourteen years old, leaving the siblings “traumatized for life.” Tiffany Haddish responded to the situation on her social media channel and was open about it. She stated:
“I’m sure people have a lot of questions. I understand. I’m right with you. Unfortunately, due to an ongoing legal matter, I can’t say much at this time. While this routine was obviously supposed to be comedic, it wasn’t funny at all — and I regret agreeing to appear in it. I really want to be able to tell a lot more about this scenario as soon as possible.”
Accusations of Tiffany Haddish
Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears have been charged with willful emotional distress, gross negligence, sexual assault, sexual harassment and sexual abuse of a minor. Tiffany Haddish is also accused of being a negligent supervisor who failed to warn. The comedian is being charged with fiduciary violation and constructive fraud.
According to information obtained by TMZ about the complaint, the 14-year-old girl and her 7-year-old brother were pressured to participate in the graphic. One of the recordings of the performance would show Haddish advising the underage girl how to recreate an intimate moment. According to the lawsuit, Haddish allegedly transported the young boy to a residence where she and Spears raped him while filming a Funny Or Die movie titled “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes”.
Funny Or Die told People magazine that the reported video “was removed in 2018 shortly after he became aware of its existence.” They went on to say:
“This video was terrible for Funny Or Die, and they would never make anything like it again. We are not involved in the creation, development, funding or production of this video. It is posted on the website as user-generated material…”
According to the complaint, as reported by People:
“The plaintiffs were both minors who could not consent to their participation in sexually explicit recordings produced and uploaded on the ‘Funny or Die’ website… There was no parent or guardian in the room.”
Tiffany Haddish’s lawyer responds
In a statement, 14-year-old John Doe claimed that Spears and Haddish offered him a sleepy drink. According to the complaint, Haddish also paid $100 to the siblings. Tiffany Haddish’s attorney Andrew Brettler told Variety that the action was “without merit” and that the mother of the children “had tried for many years to make these false allegations against Ms. Haddish.”
The statement went on to say:
“Every lawyer who first took her case – and there were many – eventually dropped the matter because it became clear that the charges were baseless and would not shake Ms. Haddish.” Mrs. Morris is now represented in this action by her adult daughter. They will have to face the consequences of their foolish behavior together.”
