After playing for FC Copenhagen’s youth teams at various levels, Delaney made his professional debut in an unofficial friendly match in August 2008. Delaney was promoted to the main squad during the 2009 summer break. He played his first game on another continent against FK Morgen in the preliminary round of the Champions League. He also scored for Copenhagen in that game. On August 9, 2009, he played his first Superliga match against SonderjyskE.
