Hugh Dancy and Claire Danes are expanding their family. On Sunday, January 8, a representative for the couple revealed to People that the 43-year-old actress is expecting their third child. The couple have two sons, Cyrus, age 10, and Rowan, age 4. Danes and Dancy, both 47, met for the first time on the set of the 2006 film Evening.
The Homeland alum explained to Marie Claire in February 2017:
“I was single very recently and I had never been single before so we were just friends for a while. “[Hugh and I] met in Rhode Island when it was at its most daring beauty, in the fall. And there was one day when we were cycling along the water and it was sparkling and idyllic, and I just had this stupid epiphany, like, ‘I’m really just happy.’”
For his part, the Hannibal actor has previously joked about Danes’ attempts to remain single, saying that he “very happy” she “chose to have a one-night stand with an inferior boyfriend.”
He said on SiriusXM’s The Michelle Collins Show in May 2020:
“It was kind of in the moment [when] she was single, I was single, and we both thought it through clearly. “She also thought, I think, as so often, ‘Well, do I want to get into a new relationship again?’ She just came out.”

Danes said at an FYC event when she was expecting baby No. 2 before filming the final season of Homeland:
“Soon I will retire for a while and just be pregnant, which I look forward to. “It feels like a huge luxury. When I was pregnant with my first son, I worked until I was eight months old, so this feels like a huge gift, to have the chance to step up a bit.”
Danes and Dancy last appeared in public in September 2022 at the New York City Ballet’s 10th Annual Fall Fashion Gala. The pregnant actress has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Limited Series, Anthology Series or Movie Made for Television at the 2023 Golden Globes on Tuesday, January 10.
