The victim was her boyfriend in college, a man named Sid Wells with whom she was classmates at the University of Colorado. The two were together for three years, until he was found dead in 1983, shot in the head at his home, a condominium near the university, by his brother, who for some time became a murder suspect. The case remains unsolved though many believe it was his roommate who pulled the trigger. However, the lack of evidence means authorities were unable to charge him.

Grief-stricken for a long time, Shauna was unable to function properly, including studying, and eventually dropped out of college.

She and her father appeared at Well’s funeral. Eventually she was able to move on and focus on her painting career. She has had a bit of success, although the media doesn’t follow her actions as much as compared to her father. She continues to make public appearances, but attention to her wanes, especially after her father retires.

Robert Redford was born in 1936 in Santa Monica, California, where he grew up, the son of an accountant. His parents later separated and his father remarried, raising him with a stepmother. He stayed with his father when they moved to Van Nuys, where he did not do well in academic studies, preferring anything related to sports or art.
