Early life and education
Robert was raised as an only child in Ste-Marie-de-Kent, a French Canadian village in New Brunswick, by his father who was a football coach at a local high school and his mother who was a nurse. He became interested in sports while attending elementary school when he started playing soccer for fun, and after enrolling in a local high school he got more serious about soccer and started wrestling as well.
Robert was interested in becoming a professional wrestler, but still wanted to work on his education, so after graduating in 1987, he enrolled in college and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1991.
Career as a wrestler
Robert entered the WWF on November 11, 1991, when he fought under the ring name “The Cajun Giant” against and defeated Bob Bradley in a dark match, and from there went on to work for Super World of Sports as Giant Goliath.
He signed his first contract with WWF in 1997 and joined the professional wrestling stable The Truth Commission along with The Jackyl, a former wrestler who is today a professional wrestling color commentator.
