Career

After graduation, Quinton McCracken was selected in the 25th round by the Colorado Rockies in their inaugural draft in 1992. As a September draft, he made his major league debut on September 17, 1995, striking out in his lone at bat in three games.

He hit .290 in 283 at bats in 1996, mostly in midfield. In 1997, he stole a career-high 28 bases and raised his batting average to .292.

On November 18, 1997, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays selected Quinton as the second overall pick in the 1997 Major League Baseball expansion draft, and he would be their starting center fielder for the 1998 season.

He had his best season to date, playing in 155 games, hitting .292 with seven homeruns and 59 RBI, and was named the first-ever most valuable player of the Devil Rays. Quinton was limited to 40 games in 1999 due to an ACL injury, and he spent most of 2000 with Triple-A Durham in the minors.

On November 27, 2000, he was released by the Devil Rays. The St. Louis Cardinals signed him on December 22. He was released during spring training. On April 13, 2001, he signed a contract with the Minnesota Twins. He spent most of the season in Triple-A, hitting .338 for Edmonton.

He was a free agent after the season, signing with the Arizona Diamondbacks on January 9, 2002.
