She is likely benefiting from her husband’s success, who has a net worth estimated at over $9 million.
Early life and education
At a young age, Kate developed a love for art thanks to her father, a retired priest turned poet, who loved various art forms, and this passion was passed on to his daughter. As a child she started taking ballet lessons and also took lessons in singing and acting. Ballet remained her greatest passion and while in high school she joined the Ann Arbor Civic Ballet Company.
After graduating from high school, she chose not to pursue a college degree yet, as she briefly lived in Scandinavia and traveled around Europe as part of an art pilgrimage. After returning to the US, she enrolled at George Washington University on an art scholarship and earned a liberal arts degree. It was during this time that she met and later began a relationship with TJ Miller.
Career Achievements
After graduating, Gorney decided to pursue her interest in acting and landed a few notable roles during her career. One of her first major projects was the television show “Gossip Girl”, in which she portrayed the Bleeker Inn barista for nine episodes.
The show stars Blake Lively and Leighton Meester, which follow the lives of adolescents living in the upper-class neighborhood of Manhattan’s Upper East Side. The show was highly successful, running for six seasons and winning numerous awards.
She also appeared on the TV show “Fringe,” created by JJ Abrams, which follows the characters of Anna Torv and Joshua Jackson who are members of a fictional division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that deals with supernatural events. These events often link back to a parallel universe.
The show has grown into a huge lore and mythology surrounding it and has gained a cult following over the years. Kate has also done film work, including “Lovesick”, “Tattoo”, “A Love Story” and “Twelve”. One of her latest acting projects is “The Emoji Movie”, in which she voiced the character Heart Eyes. Besides acting, she mainly paints, sells her works online and participates in exhibitions.
Husband – TJ Miller
After graduating from college, TJ made his debut in the movie “clover field” which was also a creation of JJ Abrams. It’s a kind of found footage film, following the story of New York City residents who find themselves in the midst of an onslaught of monsters, one of which is huge.
The film received positive reviews and helped establish a franchise. His next big project would be the “How to Train Your Dragon” movies, a successful animation franchise that he was only part of for two movies due to some unspecified issues that led to him being dropped by Dreamworks.
In 2017 he participated in the television show “Silicon Valley”, in which he played Erlich Bachman. The show aired on HBO and tells the story of five people who get involved in the creation of a startup company in the popular tech titular region; the show ran for six seasons.
At the same time, he also portrayed the character Weasel in both “Deadpool” and “Deadpool 2”, based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Weasel is Deadpool’s friend and sidekick.
TJ Miller Controversies
While Miller has had a successful career, he has also had issues that have caused him to lose some of his great opportunities. In 2016, he was involved in an allegation of assault by an Uber driver, was arrested and later had a civil settlement with the driver. The attack happened because he got into a heated argument with the driver about Donald Trump, of whom he is highly critical.
The following year, amid the Me Too movement, the online publication “The Daily Beast” published an article alleging that he had sexually assaulted a woman during his college days. The publication claimed the incident was confirmed by several people, but he later released a public statement, denying the charges and accusing the woman who was kicked out of its comedy group at the time for bad behavior for making false accusations. He also accused her of undermining other legitimate claims by women. Even Kate spoke out against the prosecution and assisted her husband.
He’s been too accused by actress Alice Wetterlund for being unprofessional and inappropriate during their time together in “Silicon Valley”. She voiced her grievances online, prompting HBO to investigate the matter. However, since then there is no information about a solution to this problem.
Private life
Kate and TJ’s relationship started in college after they met in a school production of “A Chorus Line”. They stayed together for several years and he proposed to her during a trip to the LA County Museum of Art, at the famous Levitated Mass installation. While he messed up the proposal a bit, the comedic effect made it more real and she accepted. The two married in 2015 at the Denver Botanic Gardens. They have no children, nor have they expressed a desire to have one.
