Kylian Mbappé was pleased to see France beat Morocco in the FIFA World Cup semi-final on Thursday, but it didn’t take long to console his friend and teammate at Paris Saint-Germain, Achraf Hakimi.

The defending champions defeated the Atlas Lions 2-0, setting up a game between Argentina and the champions. Morocco’s dream streak came to an end when left-back Theo Hernandez scored early and Randal Kolo Muani scored late to take France to its fourth World Cup final in seven years.

After the game was over, Mbappé went to comfort clubmate Hakimi, who was a big part of Morocco’s dream World Cup career.

Mbappe and Hakimi hugged each other and then switched jerseys.

Mbappe later tweeted that Hakimi made “History” and that everyone was proud of him.

Mbappé tweeted: “Don’t be sad, bro. Everyone is proud of what you have done and you have made history.”

Don’t be sad, mate. Everyone is proud of what you have done and you have made history.

Mbappe, who has already scored five goals in the tournament, helped set up both of France’s goals. He dribbled and shot, and the ball deflected into the path of an unmarked substitute named Kolo Muaniwho scored from close range.

Morocco was the first African team ever to reach a World Cup semi-final. They fought well and the crowd, dressed mostly in red and green, cheered them on.

France reached the final for the fourth time in seven World Cups. If they win at Lusail Stadium on Sunday, they will be the first team to retain the trophy since Brazil in 1962.
