Ricardo Emmanuel Brown was born on October 23, 1972. His hometown was Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sharon Hill Brown and Jomax Collins are his mother and father respectively. He grew up with his brother Roscoe, also a well-known rapper in America. Throughout his childhood, his entire family lived in Philadelphia.
Kurupt is also a cousin of the famous rapper Redrum781. He left Philadelphia for California when he was sixteen, and settled in the Hawthorne neighborhood.
