The more my white hair grows, the less I want to take and show pictures of myself. 👻 But I wanted to post a photo with this poem that took me 3 days to write and I didn’t want to rely on a photo from the past. So I channel a release from my hold on my vanity and insecurity, instead I go with the flow, as I tried with this poem. 🤍 These stanzas were born from thoughts about my white hair & my fight with a little spider to stop weaving her web on my balcony. The web made me flutter and curse every time I walked up to my balcony in the dark; it tickled my flesh and stuck to my hair. In the beginning, I used a yardstick to tear down the web. The same yardstick I used to knight Lavi since I called him “young gentleman” all the time (I called Roxi “young lady”). I don’t need quarantine to be this weird, so don’t blame that. 🤪 Anyway, after 3 days of the spider rebuilding her web – her house – I stopped beating its existence. After all, the wind must have moved her overnight, and it reminded me that one day the wind will collect my ashes and move me too. 💀 This poem isn’t perfect, but I’ve decided to post it anyway. I call that a bit of courage, not in the sense of facing fire or standing in the line of fire, but in the sense of showing vulnerability. 🤍 Please don’t steal my poem. In any case, wait for me to solidify and polish it before you break my copyright laws. I joke. Never steal my writing, no matter the form. 👿 🕸 Thin threads Swaying in the wind Little spherical spider Spinning in the epicenter She doesn’t know Man’s tornado Soon to be broadcast From the swing of a yardstick. 🕸 Thin threads dangling from flower pots Little spherical spider Climbing to safety Little does man suspect The spider’s intellect Weaving soon Through the depths of her sorrow. 🕸 Thin threads reappearing Little spherical spider Dwelling in the dewdrops Neither creature contemplates nature’s plunder Soon to merge Beyond the bounds of this earth. 🕸 ~Jodi Leigh Miller 🕸 🕸 🕸 🤍 #mondaymotivation #poetry #writer #poetryofinstagram #fitover40 #murves #girlswithbiceps #womenwholift #dachshund #dogmom #grayhairdocare #converse #girlswithmuscle
