Janice Freeman’s cause of death has been released

According to her death certificate, The Voice star Janice Freeman died of a pulmonary embolism. The singer’s lupus played a role in her death, according to the papers. The married mother of one child, Freeman had overcome several health issues in her lifetime, including the autoimmune disease Sjögren’s syndrome and cervical cancer.

The singer died earlier this month at her family’s home in Los Angeles following a medical emergency. At the time of writing, she was 33 years old. Freeman leaves behind a large and loving family, including her husband Dion, their 12-year-old daughter Hannah, their mother Janice and other siblings. She was mentored by Miley Cyrus on season 13 of NBC‘s The Voice in 2017.

The pop artist spoke at a memorial service for Freeman earlier this week, and she also posted an emotional tribute to her on social media following her passing. Together with her father Billy Ray Cyrusshe sang “Amazing Grace” during the celebration.

“Before we sing this song to Janice, I want to dispel a rumor. I was never her coach, never, she was always mine,’ said Cyrus in tears. “I’ve learned more from her than anyone I’ve ever had the honor of being in the room with, not just vocally, I should have taken more lessons than I did, but she taught me everything I know about love .”

“And to be here, and I was going to sing her a song, but losing her is just too much for me,” Cyrus continued. “So my dad is going to sort this out for me.
