James “Buster” Coley, the co-founder of the now-famous adult entertainment chain Dave & Buster’s, recently passed away. He turned 72.
The police have confirmed this TMZ that they went to Coley’s house in Dallas on his birthday, January 2, where they found a man with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
A representative for the restaurant/arcade chain confirmed Coley’s death to the publication. In 1982, the very first Dave & Buster’s opened in Dallas.
Coley owned a popular restaurant and his soon-to-be business partner, David Corriveau, ran a popular place for adults to have fun. The two men noticed that their customers often went back and forth between the two places.
They teamed up and Corriveau’s name came first in the name of the brand because he won a coin toss. They now have over 140 stores. The D&B representative said Coley would be remembered as “an innovative and creative force” with a “pioneering spirit”.

They added: “Buster’s passion for hospitality, his demand for excellence and the deep concern he had for his team members were second to none. Our thoughts go out to his family at this difficult time and while we will miss his wise advice and easy smile, the legacy he and Dave have built will endure.”
Police are still investigating what happened and an official cause of death has not yet been given.
