In an interview with OK! in April 2021, plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Youn stated that Zac “looks significantly different, with a wider jaw, particularly on the right side. He may have had filler injections to change his jaw I assume.
At the time Zac might have “fell prey to the crowded face with facial fillers,” said Dr. Chris Funderburk, another plastic surgeon. This often happens when patients find a cosmetic injector they trust– often a celebrity – but the injector lacks an understanding of proper facial aesthetics or simply takes advantage of a wealthy client by continuing to inject them.
Thankfully, Zac dispelled speculation about his changing looks in an interview with Men’s Health for the October 2022 issue. The actor has gotten very outspoken about his body image issues, especially after putting a lot of effort into his Baywatch shape in 2017. Zac claimed he couldn’t keep training that hard for very long.
“I started experiencing insomnia and a severe sadness that lasted for a while. That meeting left me feeling exhausted somehow. I had a pretty tough time refocusing. In the end, they blamed taking diuretics for far too long causing something to go wrong, explains Zac.
Finally, the Greatest Showman actor admitted that, while unrelated to his rigorous fitness regimen, he had suffered a horrific accident four years earlier that damaged his jaw. According to interviewer Lauren Larson, he was sprinting around his house in socks when he tripped and hit his chin against the granite corner of a fountain. He remembers falling unconscious and coming to when his chin bone protruded from his face.
