Will there be a third season of Gossip Girl?
HBO Max recently announced that it will not be renewing Gossip Girl for a third season. The show has been canceled and the series finale will be available on the streaming service on January 26.
According to Variety, HBO Max issued the following statement:
We are very grateful to showrunner/executive producer Joshua Safran and executive producers Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz for bringing me back to the Upper East Side and all the scandals at Constance Billard. While we are not moving forward with a third season of Gossip Girl, we thank them for the seductive love triangles, calculated underhandedness and impeccable fashion that have brought this series to a new audience.”

What could be the plot of Gossip Girl season 3?
If the series is picked up elsewhere and a third season is made, the only thing we know for sure is that it will most likely take place during the first semester of senior year.
“I’d definitely like to keep the show going,” Safran told Harper’s Bazaar shortly after Season 1 premiered. “I designed it so that each season is a semester so we didn’t get into the problem that the first show faced, which was in Season 3, they had to go to college.
Which I think was the right decision at the time. Of course, in hindsight, you could have stayed longer in high school. If each season is a semester and they are now juniors, they will go to college in season 5.
Long story short, as the series continues, expect a long wait for more gossip. There are six seasons of the original to keep you busy until then. Blair and Serena are still available to keep you company!
