Who is Ghislaine Maxwell?
Ghislaine Maxwell is the youngest daughter of the late media billionaire and former British politician Robert Maxwell. She was a socialite in the 1980s due to her father’s fame and fortune, which allowed her to associate with London’s elite. Ghislaine moved to New York when her father died in 1991, where she met Jeffrey Epstein. They briefly had a love affair and although it ended, they remained good friends for decades. Maxwell had essentially disappeared from view by the time Epstein was arrested in 2015.
Maxwell, who was wanted by the FBI for assisting Epstein, was also cited in many cases by survivors who accused her of grooming them to be abused by Epstein. Ghislaine Maxwell was arrested in 2020 and later convicted of five of the six charges against her, receiving a 20-year prison sentence. Maxwell is now in prison.
