The Callisto protocol is a 2022 survival horror action video game published by Krafton and developed by Striking Distance Studios. Glen Schofield, who previously co-created the Dead Space series, directed it.

The story of the game follows Jacob Lee (Josh Duhamel), who is sent to a prison facility on the Jovian moon Callisto to battle infected inmates with an unknown disease as they uncover the facility’s dark secrets.

There were brief rumors of a delay, but these were quickly dispelled early on by the development team October 2022.

What happens in the Callisto protocol? Plot explained

Jacob Lee and his friend Max have a contract freight carriers tasked with moving items from Jupiter’s moon Europa to the nearby moon Callisto.

They are intercepted by the Outer Way and Jacob’s ship crashes. As a result, Max is killed in the crash, and Jacob and Outer Way organization member Dani Nakamura is apprehended by Captain Ferris of the Black Iron Prison and sent there.

While there, Jacob escapes due to a breakout and befriends a fellow inmate named Elias. By a long punishment, Elias guides Jacob through the facility as our brave hero collects new equipment and weapons and deals with an unknown alien parasitic presence that is trying to kill everyone.

After overcoming numerous obstacles, so are Jacob and Elias can meet, get dressed, leave the facility and try to escape through Callisto’s surface.

However, an accident during the subsequent escape almost Jacob’s life, and he finally finds Elias, whose suit has been broken, and succumbs to Callisto’s unruly circumstances.

The end of the Callisto protocol explained

The director explains that the Callisto protocol was an experiment to original alpha who died to promote human evolutionary growth.

He essentially ran his own experiment on infected larvae in Black Iron Prison and Europe – which we learn resulted in the death of Dani’s sibling.

After a brief scuffle, Director Cole’s new alpha, Captain Ferris, realizes his real potential and turns into a gigantic, colossal monster.

Cole challenges Jacob to face the new Alpha race and determine which race is superior. Jacob is able to knock Ferris down, extract the antidote, and heal Dani. Dani shoots at Cole in retaliation, but that’s it just a hologramand Cole causes the planet to self-destruct.

Jacob and Dani find the escape pods, but they are there only one left, so Jacob forces Dani in, claiming he belongs there and can’t forgive himself for accidentally bringing the virus to Callisto.

Dani’s escape pod takes off just as Jacob does surrounded by monsters, sacrificing himself in the process. The term “electronic commerce” refers to the sale of electronic goods.

Back on Callisto, Jacob defeated the monsters, and the hologram of Dr. Mahler appears and says there may be a way out. As she says this, Ferris’ face appears and yells at Jacob – but now in his pre-alpha form.
