Days after Iker Casilla’s heart attack, his wife claims she had cancer surgery

Sara Carbonero, the wife of Iker Casillas who won the World Cup, has revealed that she underwent surgery for cancer just three weeks after her husband’s heart attack. Casillas fell unwell during a training session with his new club, Porto, having made 167 appearances for Spain and 725 for hometown Real Madrid before leaving in 2015.

The mother of Casillas’ two children, Carbonerosaid on Instagram that the Ovarian cancer surgery went well. She tweeted late Tuesday night: “We hadn’t recovered from the shock when life surprised us again.”

“This time it was my turn, this six-letter word that I still struggle to write. A few days ago I went for a check-up and the doctors saw a malignant tumor in my ovary that was operated on. I go through the required treatment. I know there is a difficult road ahead of us, but I am sure it will have a happy ending.” After she was released from hospital on May 6, her husband made a premature statement about his intentions for the future.

Iker Casillas showed off the World Cup trophy

The World Cup trophy was introduced on the pitch at Lusail Stadium in Qatar, where Argentina and France will play in the 2022 final, by former Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas. After Spain defeated the Netherlands to win the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, the former footballer was responsible for lifting the trophy at Soccer City in Johannesburg.
