Cobra Kai Season 6: When Will It Be Released?
Co-creator Hayden Schlossberg told us there is one “time and place” for a new announcement, but there is no official word on whether Cobra Kai Season 6 will take place. He claimed: “There is currently no official statement on this [season 6 rumors], but we have different ideas. We are not at that time or location to make things official.”
But Ralph Macchio fanned the flames even more. In conversation with our magazine, he claimed, It hasn’t been officially picked up yet. I must express that, because it is the truth. However, we are happy to continue producing the show while also developing and broadcasting it as needed. He stated that he expects something to happen “very soon” in a later interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

So it seems somewhat confident. However, the December 2021 release date of the fourth season and the September 2022 release date of the fifth season are unlikely to be repeated. Essentially, the two seasons were shot back-to-back, and as Jon Hurwitz told us, “nothing” has been shot so far. Despite rumors that some of season six’s scenes had already been shot, discussion arose around an interview with Ralph Macchio ComicBook. com hasn’t changed that.
Expect Netflix to make a positive or negative choice at least 28 days after release. The streamer often decides to extend a season on those 28-day figures. With a show this popular, a formal announcement might be coming soon, regardless of viewership. In October we wouldn’t be shocked to see one.
In regards to a release date, we can get a general time frame of previous movie launch periods. The fourth and fifth seasons aired 11–12 months after production began. Season six should come out a year after season five if so. Early 2024 or late 2023 would not be ruled out.
Who are the Cobra Kai Season 6 characters?
Most of the cast of Cobra Kai, if not all of them will likely return for a sixth season. Ralph Macchio and William Zabka would then reprise their roles as Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence, respectively.
The karate kids—Xolo Mariduena, Mary Mouser, Tanner Buchanan, Jacob Bertrand, Peyton List and Gianni DeCenzo would join them. Oona O’Brien, a Devon actor, may be promoted to series regular. Courtney Henggeler, Vanessa Rubio and Kim Da actor, Eun’s Alicia Hannah-Kim, are all expected to return from the older cast. Sean Kanan’s Mike Barnes and Chozen’s Yuji Okumoto are perhaps more critical open questions. Their future is still uncertain depending on how the plot develops.
Martin Kove, a Kreese actor, would play a much more important role in an upcoming Cobra Kai season 6 after his dramatic breakout from prison in the season five finale. According to Jon Hurwitz, Kreese, who escapes at the very end, is the only one who could potentially cause trouble. There’s a lot of drama available.
What about Thomas Ian Griffith, who starred in Terry Silver? Hurwitz stated, As for Terry Silver, this may be the end for him, or it may not be. “With a character of his resources and tenacity, you never know for sure. However, we love Thomas Ian Griffith and the last few years we have working with him has been incredible, we will see if we work with him more in the future.”

Cobra Kai Season 6 Storyline
The fifth season of Cobra Kai was coming to a close with Kreese escaping prison, Terry Silver being apprehended for his numerous crimes, and Cobra Kai appearing to have disbanded. In addition, Miguel and Robby have put the past behind them and Johnny is finally getting used to his new position as a family man.

It looks like everything is tied up nicely for now. However, the Sekai Takai event is still in the distance. The producers are planning a new season with the idea of making it the “Super Bowl of karate”. Aside from being the biggest tournament in the series to date, Schlossberg said, “we don’t know all the details of what it entails. “We will see how it all turns out. Let’s just say we have a lot of ideas about where we can take these characters in the future.”
Kreese and sensei Kim Da-Eun, who has a significant investment in Cobra Kai, are the show’s two remaining opponents who could take the lead in a global karate competition. Could they bring a new group to Sekai Takai? While it’s undoubtedly an option, don’t expect Tory or Kenny to join them. Since the two have abandoned Cobra Kai, new personalities (and rivals) must emerge from the shadows to challenge Miyagi-top do’s students.
Johnny adapts too to become a father for the second time. One of our favorite fan theories – that Terry Silver might be dying – could be intensified by a little time jump – no House of the Dragon-style hopping here. To help the sensei close out the series in style, Silver must have one more move up his sleeve if he is to slide off this mortal karate role. Observe this space.
What else have the creators of Cobra Kai said about Season 6?
If the sixth season of Cobra Kai is confirmed, Hayden Schlossberg has hinted that it will get even better and more extensive. According to the co-creator, “It always starts with the question of how we can take it to the next level while staying true to the original film.” “I compare it to the Rocky movies: there’s always a new perspective, something that feels grander, or a return to basics of what it is.
But you already know what you’re getting: fantastic editing, unique Johnny, and the soap still has some important scenes left.” The writers admitted to Collider(opens in new tab) that they don’t like going over terrain that’s already covered. They commented: “It’s getting bigger every year, but we still have a few tricks up our sleeve for where we’re going. And we’re constantly checking to make sure we’re not copying ourselves at the moment.
But one thing is certain: it’s not the end. The Season 5 conclusion, as Jon Hurwitz told us, was “designed to leave the audience with a different emotion at the time. We can understand how some viewers might interpret it as the end of a series, though Kreese is famous for saying in one of the first seasons, “Peace is just a pause between wars,” adding, “We’d like to continue .
It seems like everything is going well in the Valley! We will see how it develops.” For more on last season, check out our full spoiler discussion with creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. Then read our in-depth analysis of the Season 5 finale of Cobra Kai.
