Andres Cuervo, a Colombian singer, died at the age of 40

Andres Cuervo, a well-known singer, composer and model, died on October 9 at the age of 40. Billboard originally reported the news on October 11. According to Cuervo’s publicist, Jaque, he died of a heart attack and was in his Paris flat at the time of death. He apparently went into cardiac arrest after his sixth epileptic episode. Kiko Becerra, his former manager, paid tribute to him on social media, writing:

“Andres Cuervo Becerra left us too soon. We are stunned and stunned. The Greeks believed that dying young was a favor of the gods, since only the golden stage of human life was lived: youth.”

Andres Cuervo rose to fame as one of Colombia’s most popular artists over the past decade.

Andres Cuervo, born on April 15, 1988, also modeled for the Army of Peace and Love. He started performing in school, showing off his pop and rock and roll tendencies as well as his creative prowess. Cuervo’s debut studio album, Tras de Ti, was released in 2008 and quickly became one of Mexico’s biggest successes. This was followed by Este Soy Yo in 2013, which featured top ten singles on Mexican and Spanish radio, as well as a nationwide tour.

His latest album, Historias de Amor, was published in 2015, and a video for his song, Como Yo Te Quiero, was released on Valentine’s Day. Andres rose to fame with his song La Receta, which peaked at number one on Billboard’s tropical charts in the United States. An English version of the song The Cure was later published.

In March 2018, he released another song, Vivirla Bien, which peaked at number 18 on Billboard’s Tropical Chart. The music video for the song earned around 11 million views on YouTube, making it one of the most watched videos of his career. His music videos for Te Extrano, Destino Casualidad, Luna Cuentale and Te Quiero Para Mi had nearly 40 million views on YouTube.

He revealed that he had been diagnosed with bipolar illness five years ago during a 2020 interview. When asked about his music, he said his essence is Latin pop, but after being diagnosed with bipolar illness, he started exploring other genres such as reggae, rock and folk, which he added to his next album. He continued:

“But if I had to characterize my music, I’m from Barranquilla, Colombia, which is on the coast and is home to Shakira and Sofia Vergara… I prefer to use rhythm and sounds from my background, such as the accordion, in my music. I’m using a lot of sounds from my roots while still trying to be international so I’m mainly pop and now playing a bit with urban because I think it can open more doors for me and it’s a lot of fun.”
