After moving to New Mexico, he opened his own schools in Santa Fe and Albuquerque and began teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He started MMA in 2002 and won every fight until 2005.
After a two-year hiatus, he returned to the UFC in 2007. Unfortunately, he was defeated by Roger Huerta by TKO in the third round of UFC 74. In his next fight in the UFC, he was defeated by Kurth Pellegrino by TKO in the second round. After selling his Jiu-Jitsu Academy in 2007, he moved to the Los Angeles area.
