James Herbert Keenan was born in Ravenna, Ohio USA, on April 17, 1964, his zodiac sign is Aries and he is an American national.
He was initially raised in Ravenna as an only child by his father Michael Loren Keenan and his mother Judith Marie, but they divorced when he was four, after which Maynard saw his father only once a year for the next 12 years. His mother only remarried when he turned 12, but suffered a brain aneurysm, and sent Maynard to move in with his father who lived in Scottville, Michigan, in what Maynard today considers to be one of the best decisions ever made in his life.
Maynard attended Mason County Central High School, where he was a wrestler, as his father was a wrestling coach there, but when he enrolled in 1982, his father stopped coaching.
