Seven ways companies can use data to support their recruiting efforts

The hiring and hiring process is one of the most important aspects of business, as a single hiring decision can have a major impact on the way the rest of the business functions. To make the right decisions during this process, business leaders can collect and analyze data to help them in their efforts.

But once leaders have collected this information, what are they using it for? How can they best use this to not only hire the right talent, but also improve the hiring process in general? Here, seven members of Council for Young Entrepreneurs discuss how business leaders can use data to support their recruiting efforts and how it can help them achieve their goals.

1. Screen candidates more effectively

Data can improve your recruitment screening process. Companies get tons of resumes and it can be very hectic going through them all. Using the resumes of previously nominated or rejected candidates, you can create a checklist to screen candidates before starting the hiring process. Collecting different data points during the recruitment process will yield valuable and sometimes surprising results. 5. Analyze candidate demographic trends and priorities

Data can help you analyze trends and patterns about who is responding to your jobs and listings. Certain keywords can indicate which demographics apply and what attracts them. 6. Assessing Candidates for Red Flags

You can use data to set up “red flag” tests on your applications. Essentially, these tests are designed to exclude candidates who are not a good fit for your company. You must take the test and add weight to each answer before you can use it in recruiting. It’s a science to find a good match for a role and a team.
