Former American Idol nominee David Archuleta openly revealed his sexuality on June 12, 2021 in a lengthy and emotional Instagram post, announcing that he was a member of the LGBTQ community. He told his family he was gay in 2014, but later learned that he had emotions for both men and women, putting him on the bisexual spectrum. David also said he wasn’t “so much sexual” [desire] like normal people” because he was saving for marriage.
He advised people to support people’s coming out experiences more and to embrace their identity as someone struggling to accept themselves as gay. “I ask you please to find space to have greater understanding and compassion for individuals who are LGBTQIA+, as well as those who are members of that community and who are trying to find balance with their religion,” the singer added. He also said that accepting his identity had brought him peace.
David Archuleta tried to hide his sexuality
On June 11, 2022, Archuleta celebrated the anniversary of his long speech by reflecting on his life before and after the statement. According to his experience, the 31-year-old was terrified of his sexuality at first, but when he came out, he felt comfortable, even if that meant dating. He went on to say that he did not want to come out during Pride Month in 2021, but that it came spontaneously. “It was just the natural flow of events the days before I came to terms with myself and chose to say it out loud after breaking off an engagement to a wonderful and understanding lady a few weeks earlier,” Archuleta claimed his ex – fiancé was one of three women he considered marrying. He believed that having romantic relationships with women would help him forget his inner torment.
But when a friend told him how much anger and disgust her husband felt for being gay, he knew he was wrong. The musician said he hadn’t been honest with the ladies he dated and didn’t have enough affection for them, and he apologized to all of them for making them feel like they weren’t good enough.
Qualifications for wives of David Archuleta
Archuleta took part in a Facebook event in 2014 when he answered questions from followers before coming out to the public as a gay. One of them asked him what he was looking for in a marriage, and Archuleta mentioned several characteristics.
“Of course I’m not sure if it’s corny, but someone has to worship the Lord.” It goes without saying that they should love the Lord more than me. Then they know what their priorities are. And if they achieve that, we can set similar goals in our family,” the singer said.
He was also looking for someone who was entertaining, confident, could behave well and could make him laugh. His bride-to-be didn’t have to be a singer as long as she supported his musical profession.
