NEW JERSEY (WPVI) — PRINCETON The Mercer County Attorney’s Office on Wednesday declared the death of a Princeton student whose disappearance made national news a suicide.

As stated in the autopsy report prepared by the Middlesex Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, Misrach Ewunetie died of “Bupropion, Escitalopram and Hydroxyzine Toxicity”.

On Thursday, October 20, around 1 p.m., Ewunetie, 20, was discovered “outside in the grounds behind the tennis courts” along Faculty Road by a facility worker, according to the prosecutor’s office.

She showed no signs of trauma and her death did not appear suspicious or illegal, the then-prosecutor said. According to a statement from Princeton’s Vice President of Campus Life, “The loss of Misrach is beyond comprehension.

Our deepest condolences go out to her loved ones, both blood and otherwise.” Ewunetie was last seen near Scully Hall on the New Jersey campus at 3 a.m. Friday, October 14, according to the university.

Universum Ewunetie, Ewunetie’s brother, told ABC that one of Ewunetie’s suitemates had seen her home around 3 a.m., but when her immediate roommate came home around 4:30 a.m., Ewunetie wasn’t there.

Misrach Ewunetie’s family became concerned when she failed to show up the next day for an interview related to her application for US citizenship, which was to take place about 45 minutes from the university.

On Sunday, October 16, he reported that she was unable to receive text messages and her phone went straight to voicemail. Hair Ohioan parents testify that Misrach Ewunetie was in constant communication with them.

According to Universe Ewunetie, her phone last rang around 3:30 AM on the day in question, and the closest off-campus apartment complex is about a 30-minute walk from her dorm. He said earlier that morning, around 6 a.m., was the last time her phone had contacted a cell tower.

Helicopters and drones were used in the hunt by the police. In a tweet, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy said he has been in contact with authorities “who are doing everything they can to find her”.

The governor then tweeted: “We are devastated by the news that Misrach Ewunetie, a missing student from Princeton University, was found dead earlier today. Our deepest sympathy goes out to her loved ones, both blood and not, as well as her classmates.”
